Mr X Christmas Appeal

The Mr X Christmas Appeal was set up over 50 years ago by Tom Brevin to collect donations of Christmas presents and give them to under-privileged children. The appeal caters to children from Neath, Swansea and Carmarthenshire. The gifts are collected and distributed by anonymous volunteers.

Last year, our Project Manager Ben Riseborough asked colleagues if they would like to get involved. 6 colleagues contributed and Ben organised the collections from people’s homes and delivered them to the official donation centres.

This year, we were delighted that we had 16 colleagues who contributed gifts to the scheme. We are so happy that we can spread even more joy this festive season.

This will contribute to the Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion Cross-Cutting Theme because it gives children in the community a chance to have Christmas presents when they otherwise wouldn’t have received them. It makes them feel valued by the community too and relieves their parents’ and carers’ stress about having to find money to buy them gifts, when money is tight.
